“In the end, we conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught.” ~ Baba Dioum, Senegalese poet

Explore the Bras d’Or

The Bras d’Or Lakes and Watershed Interpretive Centre is sponsored by the Bras d’Or Preservation Nature Trust,  as part of their effort to raise awareness and understanding of this unique and complex ecosystem.

The current exhibit, Ecology of Bras d’Or, leads visitors through an exploration into the ecology, geology and cultural history of the Bras d’Or watershed. A large satellite map is on display and children and adults alike will be amazed at the variety of life that makes its home in and around the Lakes. The Interpretive Centre has shared a wealth of knowledge with the public over the 10 years that it has been operating. Nearly 50,000 people have visited us so far!

Open daily from June to mid October, from 9am-7pm, you can find us in the historic old Post Office at 532 Chebucto Street in Baddeck;  a stone’s throw from the Baddeck marina and the Bell Museum. To go through all the intractive modules in the exhibit takes about an hour. Admission to the Centre is by donation, your generous support helps us to keep our doors open and supports our conservation efforts. We hope  to see you soon!
